It's too late to post a comment on the issue you started. I think Suman is partially right and partially wrong. Whoever you are, whatever your political stand is ,you can never deny that a change was needed.
Then who would make the change? DIDI??? Alas.....
Do you really think that SHE would ever win the battle over C*M if Suman did not stand by her,Pratul Mukherjee had not sung for her?
A huge mass was motivated by these statue of people. I think,he is neither with DIDI,nor with the concept 'enemy's enemy is my friend', he is with the wave, that reaches a shore, free from terrorism of C*M...
A request, don't delete the songs, neither from records nor from your heart. It will be an injustice to your soul,to the songs,to us(lovers of the great composer)........

interesting discussions....
a few observatons:

1. Suman the musician, Suman the politician and Suman the person are different and should be treated separately.

2. Any person cannot reach the epitome of success, credibility or popularity in all departments of his/her life, so with Suman.

3. Leftist government had done no good for the years it ruled. In its last stint, it harmed Bengal in the real sense of the word. The people of Bengal were in a fix. They could not bring back the Leftists. Their sanity would have prevented voting for TMC. However, was there a third alternative? No. But to survive and to mitigate further harm and as immediate evasive measure, it had to be TMC.

4.Suman the person is emotional and impulsive as we all know. He was moved by the Leftist barbarism. He wanted to protest. He had no platform. TMC, though not the best substitute, at least provided Suman with the much needed platform to stand by his conviction in raging war against the oppressive Left and do justice to his conscience. Did he do anything wrong? If he did, he is still paying for it by the numerous taunts, disregard and threats that he receives day in day out from the Leftists, the cadres of TMC and the people of Bengal who spit venom at his laughable decision to join politics giving holiday to logic and self secured way of living, for the remaining days of his life.

This is my interpretation, subject to your views, comments and anecdotes. Thanks! -Riju

I think I'm a pretty effortless writer myself, and I'm only a young teenager. Reading your post, I actually never knew that writing could be hated or not flow as easily with others. That's stupid I suppose, but I find your post intriguing.

Anyways, "Effortless writing – Does it come naturally?" I think it does. I can always write freely and about anything without feeling trapped. Only on rare occasions such as times where I am stress-free can I truly not write at all.

"Do all good writers have to put some extra effort too or their first draft is good enough to be the final?" Most good writers look back on their first draft and hate it. It's debatable whether the draft is good enough- writers tend to be perfectionists -but usually the edited version is much better. For every writer, the first draft is different. It can truly be horrible, or it can be phenomenal. The connection that lies between each is that the writer usually hates it. I don't mean that they hate their work, but rather they hate the way it sounds or the way they told that one scene with words that looks different in their head.

"Hardly anybody ever writes anything nice about introverts. Extroverts rule. This is rather odd when you realize that about nineteen writers out of twenty are introverts. We are been taught to be ashamed of not being ‘outgoing’. But a writer’s job is ingoing."~ Ursula K. LeGuin
I liked that quote a lot. But then again, how could your story be an adventure if we stay in our rooms and write? That's rather funny; wouldn't the character be a narration of people writing themselves?

Beautiful post. And yes, just as RAJI says, it's very, very emotional. Wud have loved to read the other article you talked about too, but sadly I don't live in India and don't know from where I would be able to retrieve an old article like that...

Most importantly, really wish things would have turned out differently for this beauty.

Dilip ji was the best choice for Madhu ji. It's been also said that after she broke up with Dilip ji, all three-Bharat Bhushan, Pradeep Kumar, Kishore Kumar proposed to her but she accepted the third, which itself was big mistake. Rula ke gaya sapna mera was her type of song when she was ailing and it's so heart wrecking. Many fans have spoken against Kishore Kumar just like Raji. They have talked about hating him for not treating her well enough( despite his great talent, talent doesn't make someone a great person) and have felt sad about the industry moving on after she ceased to be a star. People move on too fast in life sometimes.

Her sister Madhur Bhushan had said that Premnath ji had expressed an interest in Madhuji when she was still a teen but she backed out saying her dad was very strict. So guess all the stories of her sending a rose to his make up room etc is most likely a figment of somebody's imagination. After all, she was so beautiful, men would have gone totally crazy on their own.Don't they even now? I have seen many normal men still talk lovingly about her and keeping her posters etc. Women have loved her equally too. Celebs Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan have reportedly talked about her beauty. In the past apart from Manmohan Desai, Shammi Kapoor, Mr. Karanjia etc, the handsome Shashi Kapoor ji also talked about how he regrets not getting to work with her.

Though I am not a great fan of him , I must say that Dilip ji was a great actor and looked great at that time and they would have made a great couple. So wish Ataullah Khan sahab and Yusuf Sahab had sorted out their differences ( most likely in opinion) and things wouldn't have ended painfully for this ethereal beauty. Even if she was sick( it was a congenital defect after all and that was in God's hand) she would have been happy on the personal front and maybe that would have added some more years to her life. Happiness and laughter sometimes work miracles. Joint sincere prayers of well wishers do too.

Wish they had a happy ending to their love story. Her love for Yusuf ji was pure and she did try for a reconciliation through well known journalist/ writer/ publicist Bunny Reuben. Wish he had eased his ego too.But it was not be ...Too sad:(:( Heart breaking beyond words.

But since all this happened long ago and people around 60 years ago thought differently it's difficult to be sure of things. And most of the people involved are gone, so I guess it will be better if I too keep the comments subtle.
